A neat, small utility to extract EXIF tags from JPG files and save them as CSV.
BR’s EXIFextracter is Baard Riiber’s free solution to EXIF metadata extraction. This small yet efficient software utility grabs all the information stored in the EXIF tags of your digital photographs and other image files and saves it as a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file.
Still in beta stage, this free utility comes in a barebones interface with no bells and whistles, but with everything you need to perform a quick and effective EXIF data extraction. Designed for bulk data processing, the program works at the folder level. It will scan the designated folder looking for images carrying EXIF tags, and will process all the files found following your preferred settings. Together with some minor decisions (output folder, CSV file name, etc.), the program’s settings will mainly offer you the possibility of choosing which tags will be exported and which will not. You do not need to be an expert in EXIF tagging to make your choice, as the number of tags supported is not too high (around 30) and they are all very nicely described. Thus, you will find tag names like “Camera manufacturer and model”, “Size of image file”, “Date and time”, or “Exposure”, making it extremely easy to browse through the list and make your pick.
The entire extraction process is as simple as it can be, and the results are just what you would expect from a straightforward CSV file. It would be nice if this interesting tool would lose its beta status at some point and become a full-featured application it deserves to be. In the meantime, if you happen to have a large collection of images or digital photographs whose basic EXIF data you need to extract quickly and efficiently, you can always rely on EXIFextracter.
